John Duke Rives was educated in the Dinwiddie schools and has been deputy county surveyor, insurance agent, and farmer. He is now a member of the Democratic electoral board of Dinwiddie; a Vestryman of the Church of the Good Shepherd near McKinney, Virginia, his post office; and, since 1924, has been president of the Community League of the Sunnyside School. Mr. J. D. Rives married December 20, 1910, his sister—in—law, Agnes Turner Tompkins.
