The will of John Adkins of Albemarle parish in Sussex County, Virginia mentions "my daughter Elizabeth Rives." The will was dated 30 Jul 1779.

From Reliques of the Rives:
Timothy Rives was born about 1746 in Prince George county, Virginia, where he appears to have resided throughout his life. In 1782 he was recorded as the owner of 150 acres in that county, being entered in the tax lists as "Timothy Rives, son of William" to distinguish him from his first cousin, Colonel Timothy Rives, son of Timothy, of the same county. The land owned by him was situated west of the Cherry Orchard branch. He continued to be designated as the "son of William" until 1798, when he appears as Timothy Rives, Sen. In 1782 he was the owner of eleven slaves. It was doubtless he who, in 1791, witnessed the deed of William Rives, his brother, to the latter's grandson, William Rives Mitchell. Banks Rives, another witness to the deed, was residing with Timothy Rives in that year, according to the Prince George county tax lists. Timothy Rives married about 1768, Elizabeth, daughter of John Adkins, of Sussex county, Virginia.

Reliques notes that son William probably died c1796 and Timothy probably both died c1802. Both had received land from their father. Tax records show their land reverted back to their father in those respective years.

Betty Adkins Rives and Judith Rives's birth are recorded in the Albermarle Parish Register.

Research Notes

This would appear to be Timothy Rives who was listed in the 1810 census in Prince George County.
