Research Notes

Although Childs in Reliques of the Rives states that he was married to a Mark Stokes, this is in error. His wife consistently appears as Eliza Jane on the census, indicating that they married around 1887 or 1888. The marriage record with the same date give by Childs gives her name as E. J. Ladd.
