The visitations of Dorset from 1623 state concerning James: "Jacobus 3 filius duxit Francesca fil. Thome Auerie in com. Wiltes." (3rd Son James married Francesca daughter of Thomas Auerie in County Wiltshire). Furthermore it lists the following concerning his children:

• 1. Joh'es aet. 14 (John age 14)
• 2. Rob'tus aet. 10 (Robert age 10)

Research Notes

Reliques of the Rives identifies this James Ryves as the same James Ryves who left a will dated 9 Nov 1632 probated in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury. There is currently not enough known about this James to identify him as the author of the will. Additionally, the will was written only nine years after the visitation and neither wife nor children are mentioned in that will.
