Edwin J. Sutherlin enlisted in Capt. Crispin Dickenson's Company, 13th Battalion Virginia Light Artillery of the CSA. On the 14th of August 1864 at Chimborazo Hostpital No. 5 in Richmond, Virginia, he died of thyphoid fever.
