Wiki Stats - End August 2011
The total number of pages in the Wiki (as at 1 September 2011) has grown to 3521 (previously 3418, 3311, 3172), an increase of 139 pages. Of these 1248 pages (was 1220, 1181, 1132) begin with the letter R and are probably related to a R*v*s individual and 537 pages (506, 479, 463) begin with a number, so are probably a date related gleaning. We currently have 1275 wiki pages categorised as "People" of which 963 begin with the letter R.TRP Expands - More Users
At the beginning of August we finally came out of stealth mode when Bev announced the existence of TRP to the Reeves-L list on Rootsweb. As a result of that announcement, over 25 new users accounts have been added to TRP. If you are one of the seven who registered for an account, but has yet to follow the link in the validation e-mail that was sent to you, please do so. If you can't find the "Confirm your email at thereevesproject.org" e-mail, please contact Martin privately.To our new members who activated their account in August, welcome. Oh, and talking of mentors, I have a plea from them with respect to your TRP "Real Name". For them, and other community members, to be able to easily and quickly identify with you, please make your "Real Name" your preferred Given Name perhaps combined with the initial of your family name or some other distinguishing letters/numbers to make you unique within TRP.
TRP Expands - Bigger Server
If you tried to access TRP between 20-27 August, TRP may have failed to respond or shown you an error message or a site closed message. We apologise for this and would like to reassure everybody that TRP is now fully working again.Barry's hosting provider decided to move TRP to a faster server and unfortunately Barry received very little warning, so we weren't able to notify the TRP community prior to the event and then the move didn't go smoothly. Or perhaps this should be "TRP Expands - Improved Google Coverage"Google's coverage of TRP pages continues to expand and this morning Google's WebMaster tools tells me that they have indexed 2726 urls from the 3339 urls in the SiteMap we provide them.
This is at a time when it is correctly ignoring the tiki-print url's, the type (4) links referred to last month, see Finding TRP - Part 3. Based on the changes Barry & I have make thus far, Google is now ignoring over 5000 links and yet our pages indexed count remains consistent, which is great news.
Whilst there is still work to do to improve our coverage by the other primary web search engines, unless something dramatically changes, I intend this is the final chapter in this saga.
