TRP is Back & Upgraded

As you are aware, since 23 April we've been plagued by an issue whereby logged on users were being dropped by the system, sometimes within tens of seconds of them logging in. I'm please to be able to advise that, after much hard work by our systems admin and generous host Barry Reeves, the issue has been resolved. In the process, he has upgraded the TikiWik software which underpins TRP from version 4.3 to 6.7, putting us back on a supported version.

TikiWiki 6.7 does have a few behavioural differences, the most noticeable of which is the way the Edit Preview screen works. There is now a blue horizon divider, which you can drag down or up the screen to show more or less of the previewed text. This will make it possible to see both the preview and the source without needing to scroll, which is a real bonus.

As with any new software we've found a few issues that we're still working to resolve, the most obvious of which is the absence of our mast head logo.

• We also have an issue whereby files that were attached to wiki pages prior to the upgrade are currently not accessible. Newly uploaded files are accessible. Barry has this issue firmly in his sights.
• You may also notice a very few seemingly spurious characters on a few wiki pages. These are annoying and we'll work to get them fixed, but we didn't feel it was sufficient reason to stop you accessing TRP.

Apologies if you received an e-mail with the subject "Newsletter Subscription information at thereevesproject.org".     The upgrade messed up the list used to distribute our Latest News items and Martin used the wrong method to add everybody back. You can safely ignore that e-mail, sorry folks.

Wiki Stats - End April 2012

The total number of pages in the Wiki (as at 1 May 2012) now stands at 4238 (previously 4105, 3947, 3829), an increase of 133 pages during the past month. Of these 794 pages (was 745, 702, 669) begin with number and are most probably a date related gleaning. We currently have 1316 wiki pages categorised as "People", of which 998 begin with the letter "R".

The increase of 133 pages during April is particularly impressive, given it relates to only the first 16 days of the month.

TRP Users

We currently have 76 user accounts on TRP, including 4 new members who successfully activated their accounts in April. We welcome Paula, David, Bob & Sheila and look forward to their contributions to TRP. We also have two new users who are attempting to register and activate their account but who have been frustrated by our outage. We'll be working with them over the coming days to complete their enrolment.
