from Beverly WatsonOver the course of the last month, we have been making an effort to add to The Reeves Project the lineages of members of Group 7 of the Reeves DNA Project who are generally from families who descend from Edward Reavis who died in Northampton County, North Carolina and use the REAVIS variation of the surname. The primary source for pedigree information has been the Reavis Family website, where much of the site is based upon the research of Marie Reavis Hall which she published in the 1960s in a book titled The REAVIS Family.
With the pending addition of a new member to The Reeves Project as well as to the FtDNA Reeves Y-DNA Project, it’s come to our attention that some of that information included in the book has been found to be incorrect based upon new information discovered in the past 50 plus years since publication. The late Barb Lucas who was a prolific Reavis researcher had also found information to update some lines before her death.
For these reasons, if you are a member of the Reeves DNA Project whose DNA matches the Group 7 participants, please look over your own pedigree and any others you are familiar with that we have already detailed in the DNA structure of Group 7 and either make any necessary corrections to the person pages in your lineage or if you’re uncomfortable with using the Wiki syntax, just write to one of the admins giving them the correct information with sources to be added.
