Worcestershire is a landlocked county in the West Midlands of England. Historically it was bounded to the east by Warwickshire and by Gloucestershire to the south. To the west was Herefordshire, with both Shropshire and Staffordshire to the north. There were also a number of detached portions including the market town of Dudley an enclave within Staffordshire, Tredington in Warwickshire and Blockley sandwiched between Gloucestershire and WarwickshireWorcester is the county town.
