In the name of god amen theighteenth day of February in the fourth yeare of the reigne of our sovreigne Lord Charles by the grace of god king of England &c Annoq Dm 1628 I Thomas Reeve of Blackmore in the county of Essex taylor being weake and sicke in body yett thanks be to god of good & pfecte remembrance doe make & ordaine this my laste will & testamt in mannr and in forme following (that is to saie).
Firste I comend my soule into the hands of god my heavenly father in Jesus Christe my saviour and redeemr, by whose death and bloud I beleeve the forgivenes of all my sinnes and in whose righteousnes alone I beleve to be justifyed & saved through his grace. As for my bodie I comend to thearth in asured hope of resurrection to lyfe att the laste day further concernyng such goods houses lands & chattels as god hath given my in this psent world this is my laste & fynall will:
Imprimis I give & bequeath unto Alce my welbeloved wife all those my twoe customary tenemts called by the name of Horsefooles and the crosse house wth the yards & orchards to them belonging and all & singular their appurtenances to hold the said twoe tenemts & all other the said prmisses unto my said welbeloved wife Alce & her assignes during her naturall lyfe & noe longer.
Item I give & bequeath unto George the sonne of the said Alce my wife all that my mesuage or tent with the yeard thereunto belonging called by the name of the crossehouse to enter upon the same after the decease of the said Alce & from and after such tyme to hold the said house & yeard to him & his heires for ever
Item I give & bequeath unto Robert Basse of Highe Rooding in the county of Essex aforesaid backer all that my messuage or tenemt wth the yeard & orchard thereunto belonging called by the name of Horsefooes wth all & singular thappurtenances to enter upon & hold the same after the decease of Alce my said wief and from & after the decease of the said Alse to hold the said house & orchard wth all other the prmisses called by the name of Horsefooles to the said Robert Basse and his heires for ever upon condicon that the said Robert his heires executors administrators or assignes doe paie or cause to be contented or paid the full some of tenne pounds of lafull money of England unto the ptyes hereafter named in mannr & forme following (viz) unto Thomas Horsenayle thelder and my nephewe the full some of twenty shillings of lawfull money of England wthin one yeare next after the decease of ALse my said wife and unto my nephewe Robt Horsenayle the full some of fourtye shillings of lawfull money of England wthin three yeares next after the decease of Alce my said wife and unto my nephew John Horsenayle twenty shillings of lawfull money of england wthin three yeares next after the decease of the said Alce my wife and unto Joane Horsenayle twenty shillings of lawfull money of England wthin foure yeares next after the decease of Alce my said wife And unto Nycholas Horsenayle my newphewe twentye shillings of lawfull money of England wthin fyve yeares next after the decease of the said Alse my wife and unto Mary Horsenayle my neece twenty shillings of current Englishe money wthin sixe yeares next after the decease of the said Alse my wife and unto Thomas Horsenayle the younger and my nephewe te full some of twentye shillings of lawfull money of England wthin seaven yeares next after the decease of Allce my said wife And unto my neece Anne Horsenayle twenty shillings of lawfull money of England wthin eygth yeares next after the decease of the said Alce my wife And unto Alce Horsenayle my neece the full some of twentye shillings of lawfull money of England wthin yne yeares next after the decease of Alce my said wife and my mynde & will is that if the said Robert Basse his heires executors administrators or assigns doe not pay the said somes of money in mannr & forme aforesaid that then they my said kinsmen & kinswomen to whome the said leagacyes aught to be paid as aforesaid shall enter upon hold & inioye all my said mesuage or tent called horsefools from & after the decease of Alse my said wife untill the full & terme of tenne yeares from thence next insuing be fully coompleat and ended all my other goods & chattels I give unto my said wife And I ake her my said welbeloved wife sole executrix of this my ast will & testmt to pay my debts & discharge my funrall as my trust? is in her. In wittnes hereof I have hereunto sett my hand & seale the day & yearae firste above written
