In the name of God Amen The eighte and twentie Day of October Anno Do 1636. I Augustine Rives of Bransburie wthin the pishe of Barton Stacey in the Countie of Southts gent Allthough att this time visited by the mercyfull hands of Allmightie God wth much v?per? fetnesse of health, yett in verie perfict memorie I praye Gods holy name therefore And considideringe wth my selfe the suddayne Allteracon of this frayle and mortayle Liffe, And beinge Desirous to sett my sowle in order, And for the avoydinge of future striffes and controverseis wch might hereafter arise I doe ordayne make and declare this my last will and testament in mannor and forme followingeFirst and principally I doe give and bequeath my Soule into the mercifull hands of Allmightie God my Creator and tender father savinge a most sure and stedfast fayth that the same as sone as itt is departed out of this prison of this fleshe shalbe saved, and ever possesse the heavenly joyes the everlastinge Blessednesse and eternall Life and that onely trhough the death of that Imaculate Lambe of God Jesus Christ my onely Saviour & Redemer And as for my Bodie when itt shall please Allmightie God that itt shall returne unto earth my desire and will is that itt be buried wthin the channcell of the parishe Church of Barton Stacey aforesayde wch corruptible Bodie I doe faythfully beleive shall att the Last Daye Rise agayne incorruptable accordinge unto the Scriptures and then shall Receyve Judgmente to eternall Joye and felicity, And as tuchinge my worldly goods wch God in his mercy hath lente me I order and dispose them as followeth,
First I give and bequeath towards the Reparacons of the pishe church of Barton Stacey the sume of twentie shillings Lawfull Englishe money to be payde by my executor hereafter named wthin one month after my decease
Item I give and bequeath towards the Reperacons of the holy Trinitie Church of Winchester the sume of tenn shillings Lawfull Englishe money to bee payed allso wthin one month after my decease
Item I doe give and bequeath towards the Releife of the poore people of the pishe of Barton Stacey the sume of fourtie shillings of lawfull Englishe money to bee distributed amongst them att my fuenrall att the discretion of the Church wardens and overseeres of the poore of Barton Stacey aforesayde.
Item I give and bequeath towards the Releife of the poore people of Long parishe the sume of twentie shillings
Item I give towards the Releife of the poroe people of Whorwell the sume allso of twentie shillings to bee payde unto the church wardens and overseeres of the poore of each of ye pishes for the time beinge in and upon the feast day of St Thomas Thappostell wch shall next happen after my decease and that they shall distribute the same sume forth wth amongst the poore ? for? of people of each pishe att theire discressions.
Item I give and bequeath unto my loveinge sister Joane Spencer Widow the sume of five pounds of good and lawfull money of Englande to be payde unto her wthin one month after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto my loving Godsonn James Hunt the sume of five pounds of Lawfull Englishe money to bee payde unto him when he shall accomplishe the Age of twentie and one years
Item I give and bequeath unto my Godsonn James Gouldsmith the sume of five pounds of good and lawfull Englishe money to be payde unto him att the age of twentie and one years
Item I give and bequeath unto Edmonde Reave my Godsonn the sume of five pounds of Lawfull English money to be payde unto him when he shall accomplishe the age of twentie & one yeares.
Item I give and bequeath unto my Godsonn Austen Perry alias Stephens the sume of five pounds Lawfull Englishe money to be payde wthin one month after my decease.
Item I give and bequeath unto Augustine Perry sonn of Edmond Perry alias Steephen my godsonn the sum of five pounds lawfull Englishe money to be payde unto him att the Age of one and twentie years.
Item I give and bequeath unto my Godson Richarde Jackson the sume of five pounds of Lawfull Englishe money to be payde unto him att the Age of twentie one yeares.
Item I give and bequeath unto Laurence Jackson James Jackson Francis Jackson Marie Jackson and Amy Jackson sonns and daughters of my Brother in Law Laurence Jackson of Overton to everie and either of them twentie shillings to bee payde to either and everie of them as they shall accomplishe the age of twentie and one years.
Item I give and bequeath unto my Godson Leonarde Elye? sonn of Leonarde Elye? of Wonston the sume of twentie shillings lawfull Englishe money to be payde unto him att the age of one and twentie yeaars.
Item I give and bequeath unto Augustin Wigings my Godson the sume of twentie shillings of Lawfull Englishe money to be payde unt him att the Age of one and twentie years
Item All the Residue of my Goods the Lease of my farme att Brandburie wherein I live, the Lease of the parsonadge of Barton Stacey and all other my Goods Cattell and Chattells movealbe and immoveable not formerly in this my Last Will and Testament by me given and bequeathed I doe fully and wholly give and bequeath unto my Lovinge Sonn John Ryves whome I doe ordayne make and appoynt my full and solo executor of this my last will and testament, to see my debts payde and my funerall expences discharged, and I doe desire my loving Brother in Lawe Mr Laurence Jackson of Overton and my Lovinge cusson Edmonde Perrey als Stephens of Barton Stacey to be overseeres of this my Last Will and Testament Written in three sheets of paper
