Transcript

In the name of God Amen I Thomas Reeve of Little Baddow in the County of Essex Labourer this Eighteenth day of February in the yeare of our Lord one thousand six hundred fifty and three revokeing all former wills by me heretofore made doe make and ordaine this my Last Will and Testament in manner and forme following
First I bequeath my soule into the hands of my Savior Jesus Christ and my body I commit to the Earth to bee buried in such manner as my executor hereafternamed shall think fit & concerning my temporal estate I give and bequeath to my loveinge brother Matthew Reeve and to his heires forever all that my messuage and tennement with all lands grounds woods and appurtenens thereunto belonginge lyine and beinge in the parrish of ?linge or otherwhere in the county of Essex provided allwaise and it is my will and meaninge that my sayd brother Mathew Reeve shall pay or cause to bee payde unto my deare and lveing mother Elizabeth Croe the somme of fower pounds of lawfull English money yearly by even and equall portion that is to saye twenty shillings uppon the first and twentieth day of March and twenty shillings uppon the foure and twentith day of June and twenty shillings uppon the nyne and twenith day of September and twenty shillings uppon the twenty fifth day of September and the first payment to comence and begin from the next quarter day which shall first happen to bee after my decease and if the sayde severall sommes or somme or anie part thereof shal bee unpayde for the spare of fifteene dayes after the time appointed for the payment thereof then my will and meaninge is that it shall and may bee lawfull for y sayde mother and her assignes to enter into and uppon the sayde tennement or messuage or lands before given unto my brother Mathew Reeve and them to hould possese and enjoy dureinge her naturall life shee committinge noe wast? And after he decease then the sayde lands and tennement still revert unto my brother Matthew and his heires
Item I give and bequeath unto my brother John Reeve the somme of five pounds of current monies to be payd unto him within six months after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto my loveinge brother Samuell Reeve the somme of eight pounds two shillings and six pence which sayd somme is in the hands of my uncle Thomas Bradle of Witham
Item I give and bequeath unto my brother Edward Croe the somme of five pounds to bee payde unto him when hee shall attaine unto the age of eighteene yeares which sayde some of five pounds is now in the hands of my father in law Edmund Croe but my will and meaninge is that it shal bee payd in unto my executor within six months after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto my sister Elizabeth Croe the somme of five pounds to bee payde unto her when she shall attaine unto the age of eighteene yeares
Item I give and bequeath unto my sister Mary Croe the somme of five pounds to bee payde unto her when shee shall attaine unto the age of eighteene yeares
Item I give and beqeuath unto my sister Dorcas Croe the somme of eight pounds to bee payde unto her when shee shall attaine unto the age of eighteene yeares
I give and bequeath unto Edward Chapman formerly my fathers servant the somme of five shillings to bee payd within one month after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto the poore of Hatfield parrish in the County of Essex the somme of twenty shillings to bee payde within six months after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto my loveinge brother Mathew Reeve all my lands goods and chattles not formerly in this my will disposed of
Item it is my will and meaninge that if my sayde brother Matthew Reeve shall depart this naturall life before hee shall attaine unto the full age of one and twenty yeares that then my sayde tennement with all the lands grounds woods and appurtenns thereunto belonginge shall come and descend unto my loveinge brother Samuell Reeve and his heires forever unto whom in case of the death of my sayde brother Mathew before the age of one twenty yeares I doe give and bequeath all my sayde lands and tennements uppon condition of payeing unto my loveinge mother the somme of ffower pounds as is by mee foundely? ordered and directed
And Lastly I constitute and appointe my loveing brother Matthew Reeve executor of this my Last Will and Testamt In witness whereof I have sett to my hand ad seale this eighteenth day of February one thousand six hundred fifty and three

This Will was proved at Westminstr the ffoure and twentith day of July in the yeare of our Lord god according to the computation of the church of England one thousand six hundred fifty and foure before the judges for probate of wills and grantinge administration lawfully authorized by the oath of Mathew Reeve the naturall and lawfull brother of the sayde Decd and sole executor named in this Will of the said Deceased to whom was committed administration of all and singular the goods chattles and debts of the sayd deceased hee beinge first legally sworne by vertue of a commission will and truly to administer the same.
