Transcript

Know all men by these presents that I Paul Mansfield of Salem in ye county of Essex in New England, fisherman for & in consideration of the sume of fourteene pounds to me in hand allredy paid ye receipt whereof I doe heareby acknowledge, have bargained & sould by these presents doe with consent of my wife cleerly fully & absolutely bargaine aliene & sell assign & sett over unto William Reeves of ye same town butcher a certaine quantity of land lying & being sittuate in Salem aforesd & containing in the dementions sixteen pole sqaure by measure that is to say four pole on each side or four pole in length & four in bredth & being bounded as followeth viz on the north on ye street or highway next ye comon on ye south & east with ye land of ye sd Paule Mansfield & on ye west with ye ground of Edward Bush only ye sd Paule alowing same or a sufficient cartway between ye sd Edward Bush & this ground hereby granted to be sold. To have & to hold ye sd sixteene pole of ground as it is described & bounded with all ye profitts priviledges & appurtenances thereunto belonging unto ye sd William Reeves his heirs & assigns forever; & I ye sd Paule Mansfield do for myself my heirs executors & administrators further covenant promise & agree to & with ye sd William Reeves his heirs & assigns to warrant & defend ye sd bargained & sale and to grant him quiett & peaceable possession of ye same, without any lett or molestation from me, my heirs, executors or administrators or any psons from by or under them provided the sd William Reeves doe constantly maintain a sufficient fence on each side of ye sd sqaure ground alsoe ye sd Wm Reeves is to have ye benefitt of ye cartway before mentioned soe far as his ground goes. In witness whereof I have sett to my hand & seale this second day of January in ye yeare of our Lord one thousand six hundred & seventy 1670/71.
