In the name of God Amen I George Ryves of the Borough of New Woodstocke in the County of Oxon Gent being syck and infirme in body but of sound memory praised be God, doe make this my last will and testament in manner following, recommending my soul unto Almighty God and my body to the Earth to be decently and Christianly buried by my executr hereafter named And for the worldly estate the ? hath blessed me withall I give devise and bequeath the same in manner and forme following that is to say,First I give and bequeath unto my deare and loveing wife Dorothy my messuage and halfe yard lane in Stansfield the county of Oxon and all other my lands and tenements in Stansfield aforesaid of what nature or kind soever and all my lands and tenements in Combe and Wootton - in the said County of Oxon with theirs appurtenances for and dureing the terme of her naturall life, and after her decease I give and bequeath my said messuage and half yard land stanfield and all other my lands and tenements in Stanfield Combe and Wooton aforesaid unto my son Charles Ryves and his heirs for ever upon condition he pay unto my daughter Margarett fifty pounds within one yeare after my wives decease.
Item I give my house with the appurtenances in Woodstocke aforesaid wherein my son Edward now lives unto my daughter Susannah and her heires for ever.
Item I give to my son Edward five pounds and to his three? children twenty shillings a peice.
Item I give to my daughter Katherine five pounds and to her daughter and tenn pounds when she shall attain the age of fourteene yeares but if she dyes before she attains that age then I give the said tenn pounds unto her mother if she shall be living att the deth of her daughter.
Item I give to my grandchildren George Read and Jane Read tenn pounds a peice and to my daughter Jane Read and her husband six pounds a peice to buy her mourning.
Item I give to my daughter Tompson five pounds and to her daughters Lucy Mary & Jenny fourty shillings a peice to her sonn William forty shillings.
Item I give to Mr Merick Jenkins a ring Ginny price, and whereas by an agreemt made with my wife before marriage dated the 21st Aprill 1696 I was by that agreemt to have to her use three hundred pounds in case I dyed before her, and whereas my said wife is content and willing to take one hundred and fifty pounds in liew of the said three hundred pounds if it please God I dye before her, therefore I doe will and a? that one hundred pounds of the said 150 be paid by my son Charles out of the estate I have given him in Stanfield Combe & Wooton and the said estate is hereby charged with payment of the same, and the other fifty pounds my will is shall be paid by my said daughter Tompson in full satisfaction of the money my said daughter owes me.
Item my will is that my said wife shall have all her linnen brasse pewter and other household goods which were her owne att the time of her marriage.
Item I give to my said wife the silver cup I lately bought for her.
Item I give and bequeath all the rest of my goods chattels and estate reall and personall unto my son Charles Ryves and my daughter Susannah Ryves who I doe hereby make joynt executors of this my last will and testament In witnesse whereof I have hereunto sett my hand & seale the second day of June Anno dm 1718
