Transcript

In the Name of God Amen I Richard Reeve of the parish of Laindon in ye County of Essex yeoman being sick and weak in body but of sound and perfect mind & memory praise be given therefore to Almighty God do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner & form following (that is to say)
First and principally I commend my soul into ye hands of Almighty God hoping through ye merits of my saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon and forgiveness of all my sins, And my body I commit to ye Earth to be decently buried at ye discretion of my executors hereafter named And as touching ye disposition of all such temporal estate as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I give and dispose thereof as followeth
First I will that my debts and funeral charges shall be paid and discharged.
Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Bull one shilling.
Item I give and bequeath to my son Robert Reeve one shilling
Item I give and bequeath to my son John Reeve all that my coppyhold messuage or tenement now in ye occupation of Richard Quern with all the lands and appurtenances to ye same belonging the land being now in ye occupation of John Bull To have and to hold ye same unto him ye said John Reeve and his heirs for ever upon this condition that he ye said John Reeve his heirs executors Admrs or assigns shall pay unto my three daughters Susan Reeve Ann Reeve and Mary Reeve the sum of ten pounds a piece to be paid out of ye said coppyhold estate when they shall attain to ye age of one and twenty years But if ye said John Reeve his heirs exectors Admr or assigns shall neglect to pay the said several sums of ten pounds when they shall severally attain to ye age of one and twenty years being lawfully demanded it shall be lawfull for any one of my said three daughters not being paid as aforesaid to enter and seize upon ye said estate and pay her self and her sisters ye said sums of ten pounds and shall have hold and enjoy ye said estate to her and her heirs forever if any of my said three daughters shall happen to die before they shall accomplish ye said age of one and twenty years the survivors shall have her part so dying to be divided equally.
Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Susan Reeve all that my coppyhold house gardens and appurtenances to ye same belonging wherein I now dwell situate by ye side of Laindon Common and to her heirs for ever. Item I give and bequeath to my said three daughters Susan Reeve Ann Reeve and Mary Reeve all my money goods and chattels to be divided equally amongst them when they come to ye age of one & twenty years or day of marriage which shall first happen. Also I constitute and appoint my friends William Walton and John Taylor executors of this my last and testament and do revoke and disannul all former wills by me heretofore made and declare this to be my last will & testament
