Transcript
This Indenture made this sixteenth day of May in the year of our Lord God One Thousand Seven Hundred and Thirty One Between Joseph Rives of Prince George County and Bristol Parish of the one part and George Cater of Isle of Wight County and parish of the other part Witnesseth that the said Joseph Rives for and in consideration of the sum of Tenn pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid at and before the ensealing & delivery of these presents by the said George Cater the Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and thereof by these presents doth acquit and discharge the sd George Cater his heirs exrs & Admrs Have granted released & confirmed and by these presents doth for himself and his heirs fully clearly & absolutely Grant Release & Confirm unto the said George Cater his Heirs & assigns for ever. One Hundred Acres of Land situate lying and being in Isle of Wight County & Parish binding on the South side of the great meadow John Peterson his land and Nathaniel Perry's land including the plantation whereon the said George Cater now liveth be it more or less together with all houses buildings fencings orchards gardens and also all ways waters woods underwoods profitts commodities advantages hereditaments & Appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging and all the estate right title use interest inheritances possession revertion claim & demand of the said Joseph Rives of in or to the said land & premises hereby granted the sd George Cater and is now in his full possession & seizure by force & virtue of bargain & sale thereof made to him by the said Joseph Rives for the term of three years to commence from the first Day of this instant by Indenture bearing Date the Day before the Date of these presents by force and virtue of the Statue for transferring uses int possession To have and to Hold the sd Lands Tenements & premises with the appurtenances hereby granted & Released unto the sd George Cater his heirs & assigns forever so that neither the sd Joseph Rives nor his Heirs nor any other person under them shall have any claim or demand any right title or interest of in or to the premises or any part thereof but that the same shall and may be quietly & peaceably possessed & enjoyed by the sd George Cater his heirs & assigns forever In Witness whereof the said Joseph Rives have hereunto set his hands & seal the Day & year first above written.Signed Sealed and DeliveredJoseph R Rives (seal)

The subscriber do hereby impower constitute and appoint Mr Daniel Eelbank or Mr John Edwards my lawful attorney for me and my name to appear at Isle of Wight Court next coming then and there to Relinquish my Right of Dower of One Hundred Acres of Land unto George Cater as Witness my Hand this 16th day of May 1731

Joseph Rives came into Court presented & acknowledged the aforegoing Deeds of Lease & Release unto George Cater and Daniel Eelbank by virtue of the above power of Attorney from Sarah wife of the said Rives - Relinquished her Right of Dower to the land spcafyed in the said Deeds and they are thereupon admitted to Record
