Transcript

In the name of God Amen I Anne Reeves of the Township of Northampton in the County of Burlington in the Western Division of the province of New Jeryey Widow considering the uncertainty of this Transitory life, the certainty of Death and that I am far advanced in years o make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say first I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God, hoping through ye merits death and passion of Jesus Christ our Lord and only saviour to be Eternally happy. And my Body I commit to the Earth to be Decently intered at the Discretion of my executor hereafter appointed. And as touching my worldly substance I give and dispose thereof in manner following that is to say
First it is my will that all my just debts and funeral charges be paid and Discharged by my Executor with all convenient speed after my Decease
Item I Give and bequeath unto my son Walter Reeves the sum of five shillings of lawfull money of American & no more
Item Whereas I have not done so much for my son William Reeves as I have for the other of my Children I therefore give and bequeath unto my said son William Reeves, our ffeather Bedd being that which I last spunn, together with one pair of sheets one blankett one coverlett, one pillow and the Bedstead to ye said Bed belonging, And I do furtther give and bequeath unto my said son William Reeves one cow upon provise that my executor shall find that the same can be spared so as not to be wanted towards the payment of my just debts
Item I give and devise unto my son Joseph Reeves ye sum of twenty shillings money aforesaid & no more.
Item I give and bequeath unto my son Elisha Reeves one shillings of like money as aforesaid & no more
Item I give and bequeath unto my son Caleb Reeves the sum of ten shillings of like money as aforesaid & no more
Item all the rest and residue of my estate, either real or personal, of what kind or sort soever to me of right belonging or in any wise appertaining be the same moveable or immoveable I give and bequeath unto my son Samuel Reeves and to his own proper use benefit behoof forever he paying all mys just debts legacy above bequeathed. And I do also nominate make constitute and appoint my said son Samuel Reeves to be the whole and sole executor of this my last Will and Testament, hereby renoking Disallowing and making null and void all other and former Wills Testaments Legacys and bequests Whatsoever before this time by me in anywise made. Willed or bequeathed, And this only to be my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seal the twenty third day of September Anno Domini One thousand seven hundred and thirty two.

Signed Sealed published and declared by the above named Testatrix as and for last Will and Testament in the presence of us whose names are hereunto written, who did each of us subscribe our names as witnesses thereto t her request, in her presence, in the Room where she then was.

Be it remembered that on this present thirty first Day of July in ye year of our Lord one thousand seven Hundred and Thirty three before me Samuel Bustill Register general for the Western Division of the Province of New Jersey duly commisioned and authorized for the probate of Wills and one of the Witnesses subscribed to the within Will, John Allen one other of the witnesses whose name is also set and subscribed as a witness to the within will and on his sole oath which he took on the holy Evangelists of Almighty Gid did depose to be true That he was present and did see Anne Reeves the within testatrix sign and seal and heard her publish and declare the within written Instrument to be her last Will & Testament and at the doing thereof the said Testatrix was of sound mind memory and undertanding to the best of this deponents knowledge aqnd belief, And that at the same time also James Smith and Samuel Bustill & the other two subscribing witnesses were present and that they together with this deponent did sign their names as witnesses to the within will in the presence of the said Testatrix in Room where she then was.

Be it remembered that on the thirty first Day of July Anno Dni 1733 the Last will and Testament of Ann Reeves deced was proved in due form of Law, and Probate & Letters testamentary were granted unto Samuel Reeves the executor therein named having first duly sworn well & truly to administer the Deced's Estate & bring an Inventory thereof unto the Registry of the prerogative court in the secretary's office at Burlington on or before the thirty first Day of October next ensuing and render a just acct when thereunto required. Given under the seal of the said office the Twenty second Day of August 1733
