The Second Day of December in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and thirty seven I Samuel Reeves of Northampton in the County of Burlington in the wester Division of the province of New Jersey Taylor being sick and weak in Body but of a perfect mind and memory Thanks be given to God therefore calling to mind the mortality of my Body ad knowing that it is appointed for all men once to dye do make and ordain this my last Will & Testament (that is to say) principally and Ffirst of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and for my Body I recommend it to the earth to be buryed in a Christian like or decent manner at the Discretion of my Executrix hereafter named and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life I give devise nd dispose of the same in the following manner and fformImprimis I give and devise unto Mary my well beloved wife all that my reall and personal estate whatsoever or wheresoever I now have in my own possession and also all the Right Title interest property claim and demand wtsoever which I now have to any lands within this province of New Jersey, my just debts and funeral charges to be fully satisfyed and paid out of my said personal estate to be to her and her heirs lawfully begotten of her body forever, But in case my said wife should happen to dye without lawfull issue of her natural Body lawfully begotten then and in such case my will is that Samuel Reeves son of my loving Brother William Reeves shall have and enjoy all my said estate both reall and personal and the same to take in possession immediately after the Deceased of my said wife to be to him the said Samuel Reeves his heirs and assigns forever, and I do also make ordain constitute and appoint Mary my well beloved wife to be my only and sole executrix to this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disanull all and every other former Testaments Wills Legacys and executors by me in any ways before this time made named willed and devised ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seal the Day and year first above written. Samuel Reeves with a (seal) Signed Sealed published pronounced and Declared by the said Samuel Reeves as his last will and Testament in the presence of us the subscribers the words (personal estate) between the twentyeth and twenty first lines being first enterlined. Samuel Shinn and Thomas Hemble two if the subscribing witnesses to the within will being duly affirmed did declare that they saw Samuel Reeves the Testator therein named sign and seal the same and heard him publish pronounce and declare the within written Instrument to be his last Will nd Testament and that at the doing thereof the said Testator was of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding to the best of these affirmant's knowledge and as they verily believe and that the said will was read to and approved of by him in their presence, and that at the same time also Thomas Shinn Revel Elton and John Geary the other subscribing evidences were present and signed their names as witneses thereto together with these affirmants in presence of the said Testator.
Affirmed at Burlington the Nineteenth day of January 1737 before me Joseph Rose Surrogate
Be it remembered that on the nineteenth Day of January AD 1737 the last will and Testament of Samuel Reeves deceased was proved in due fform of Law and Letters Testamentary were granted by the Honble John Hamilton sugt. President &c unto Mary Reeves widow and Relict of the Decd and sole executrix in the said Testament named being duly sworn well & truly to administer the Deceds estate to exhibit a true & perfect Inventory & render a just accot when lawfully required. Given under the prerogative seal of the sd province at Burlington the Twenty first Day of January AD 1737
