Apprentice Bond - Benjamin Reeves to William Hicks

This Indenture Witnesseth That William Reves (sic) hath Put and placed his Son Benjamin Reves unto William Hicks – as an apprentice with him to Serve after the manner of an apprentice to Serve from the ninth Day of September one thousand Seven hundred and fifty one – until he Shall atain (sic) to the full age of twenty one years which will be the tenth Day of June in the year of our Lord God – one thousand Seven hundred and Sixty five During all which time the Said apprentice his Said master faithfull Shall Serve his Secrets keep – his Lawfull (sic) Commands Gladly Every where obey he Shall Do no Damage to his Sd master nor See it to be Done by others with out Letting or giving notice to his Said master he Shall not wash his Said masters goods nor lend them unlawfully to any he Shall not Commit fornication nor Contract matrimony within the Said term at Cards Dice or any other unlawfull game he Shall not play where by his Said master may have damage with his own goods nor the goods of others During the Said term with out Liscence (sic) from his Said master he Shall neither buy nor Sell he Shall not absent him Self Day nor night from his Said masters Service with out his leave nor haunt Taverns but in all things as a faithful apprentice he Shall Behave himself towards his Said master and all his During the Said Term and the Said master During the Term Shall by the best means or method teach the apprentice the art or mystery of a Carpender (sic) etc and Joyner when Crop is not upon hand and Shall also find and provide unto the Said apprentice Sufficient meat Drink appearel (sic) Lodging and washing fitting for an apprentice and also taught to Learn to Read the Said apprentice at the expiration of the Said Term the Said William Hicks or his heirs assigns Shall provide for and Deliver unto the Said apprentice one new Suit of Duray (?) Cloths – and two new Shirts for the true Preformance (sic) of all and Every the Said Covenants and agreements Either of the Said Parties bind themselves unto Interchangably – Put their hands and Seals this ninth Day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and fifty one
