Transcription

THIS INDENTURE made the twenty Ninth Day of May in the twenty sixth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great Britain France & Ireland King Defender of the Faith &c And in the year of our God one thousand Seven hundred and fifty three BETWEEN William Rieves of the County of Edgecombe in the province of North Carolina of the one part and Malichi Rieves Sic of the County of Granville in the province aforesaid of the other part WITNESSETH that whereas the said William Rieves for and in consideration of the sum of Sixty pounds Current Money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said Malichi Rieves at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof he the said William Rieves doth hereby acknowledge hath granted, bargained, and sold, aliened, enfeoffed, released & confirmed and by these presents doth grant, bargain and sell, alien, enfeoff, release & confirm unto said Malichi Rieves his Heirs & Assigns forever all that Tract or parcel of Land situate in the County of Granville in the province aforesaid containing by Estimation five hundred & twenty five Acres more or less and bounded as follows to wit, Beginning at a white Oak on the North side Fishing Creek thence running N 380 poles to a White Oak, thence W 220 poles to a Hickory thence S 380 poles to a White Oak, then East to the Beginning, And also the Reversion & Reversions Remainder & Remainders Rents & Services thereof and also all the Estate Right Title Interest Claim & Demand whatsoever of him the said William Rieves of in & to the said premises and of in & to every part & parcel thereof TO HAVE AND TO HOLD THE SAID Tract or parcel of Land & Premises above mentioned with the Appurtenances unto the said Malichi Rieves his Heirs & Assigns to the only proper use & behoof of him the said Malichi Rieves his Heirs and Assigns forever And the said William Rieves for himself his Heirs Exetors & Admtors doth Covenant & Grant to and with the said Malichi Rieves his Heirs & Assigns that he the sd William Rieves and his Heir & assigns the said Tract or Parcel of Land & Premises or against him and his Heirs and against all and every other person and persons whatsoever shall and will Warrant and forever Defend by these Presents; IN WITNESS whereof the said William Rieves hath hereunto set his hand & affixed his seal the Day and year above written.

Commentary

Malachi Reeves sold this same tract to his brother, James Reeves, on 29 Aug 1754.
