Transcript

In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Reeve of Southold in the County of Suffolk in the Province of New York in America yeoman being infirm of Body but of disposing mind and memory Reflecting upon the mortality of my Body, Do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament as followeth, I do first of all recommend my soul into the Hands of God that gave it and my Body to the Earth to be buried with Christian Burial at the Discretion of my Executors, nothing doubting of receiving the same again by the might power of God, after funeral charges and debts paid my estate I this Give vizt
Imprimis I give and bequeath to my only Son Thomas Reeve his heirs and assigns for ever all the Lands and Buildings, I shall die possessed of together with all the Buildings and accommodations unto them in any wise appertaining, Excepting such as shall be hereafter in this will mentioned also all my husbandry tackling arms and apparel & two young oxen & two cows and the half of my sheep and Swine, also Pegg my Negro wench, not to be sold out of his Family without her consent, and a Bond given by John Williamson.
Item I give and Bequeath unto my Eldest Daughter Ruth Goldsmith the use of my House and Garden adjoining mattituck parsonage during her widowhood and the pasturing of one cow upon the lands adjacent before will'd to Thomas with these exceptions here mentioned in respect to her having the house Garden and pasturing a cow so long as she is a widow which she is to yield as her right
Item I give and Bequeath to my youngest Daughter Hannah Case by great Bible
Item I give and Bequeath to my four Daughters Ruth Goldsmith, Bethiah Howell, Mary Wells, and Hannah Case all the estate I have not yet given and Dispos'd of to be Equally divided between these my sd four Daughters
Lastly I constitute and appoint my Beloved son & son in law viz Thomas Reeve and Micah Howell the only executors of this my will ratifying & confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal this twenty fourth day of September and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty, signed seald published and declared by the sd Thos Reeve to be his last Will and Testament in the presence of us the subscribers, before the ensealing between the 10th & 11th line there is interlined & debts paid.

Suffolk County SS Be it remembered that on the Tenth day of November 1761. Personally came and appeared before me Samuel Landon Surrogate of sd County Richard Stears Hubbard Coper, Isaac Hubbard Junr Cordwainer and Jonathan Pike Blacksmith all of sd County and being duly sworn on their oaths declared that they and each of them did see Thomas Reeves sign and seal the within written instrument purporting to be the will of the sd Thomas Reeves baring date ye 24th day of September 1760 and heard him publish and declare the same to be and contain his last will and Testament, That at the time thereof he the said Thomas Reeves was of sound disposing mind and memory to the best of the knowledge and belief of them the Deponents and that their names subscribed to the said will are of their respective proper hands writing which they subscribed as witnesses to the said will in the Testators Presents
