This Indenture made this Twenty eighth Day of February MDCCLXII Between Thomas Bottom the Elder of Amelia County of the one part and Mary Magdaline Rives (wife of Frederick Rives) of Brunswick County of the other part, Witnesseth that the said Thomas Bottom for and in consideration of the Affection he hath for his GrandDaughter Mary Magdaline, Wife of the said Frederick, Hath given granted and confirmed And by these presents doth give grant and confirm unto her the said Mary Magdaline Rives One Negro Woman Slave Named Anaky one Negro Girl named Doll about five years old and one Negro Boy about five months old named Hampton To have and To hold the said three Negro slaves and their increase free from the claim and Demand of all and every other person or persons whatsoever unto the said Mary Magdaline Rives and her Heirs forever. In witness whereof the said Thomas Bottom hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the Day and year first above written.
