1762 Will - Thomas Reeve

In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Reeve of Little Chesterford Park in the parish of Little Chesterford in the County of Essex yeoman being infirm in body but (thanks be God) of sound mind and memory do make ordain publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner following that is to say, first I give and bequeath unto my Son Thomas Reeve the sum of twenty pounds of lawful money of great Britain and also all the household goods and furniture which did belong to him and which I bought at Little Chesterford aforesaid both such legacys to be paid and delivered to him by my executor herein after named within one year next after my decease. Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah the wife of Thomas Headland the sum of five shillings Also I give and bequeath unto my Granddaughter Sarah the daughter of my said daughter Sarah the sum of five pounds to be paid into her own hands for her own separate use exlusive of her husband by my executor herein after named at five payments at twenty shillings each payment the first of them within six months next after my decease and the other four payments within four years after the first payment at one years distance between payment and payment and I will that the receipt of my said granddaughter notwithstanding her coverture shall be a good and sufficient discharge to my executor for the respective payments to my said granddaughter as aforesaid Also I give and bequeath unto my grandsons John Tinworth and John Reeve the sum of five pounds apiece to be by my executor herein after named paid them respectively at their respective ages of four and twenty years but without any interest all the rest residue and remainder of my goods chattels and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever (not hereinbefore disposed of after the charges of my funeral in a decent manner and the proving of this my will shall be de??? and all my just debts and the legacies aforesaid shall be fully paid and satisfied) I give and bequeath the same and every of them and every part thereof unto my son Edward Reeve for his own proper use and I nominate constitute and appoint him sole executor of this my will I give and devise also unto my said son Edward Reeve and to his heirs and assigns forever all and every my messuages lands tenements and hereditaments whatsoever and wheresoever with their and every of their appurtenances And lastly I do hereby revoke al former wills by me heretofore made and declare this to be and contain my last Will and Testament In witness whereof I the said Thomas Reeve the testator have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirtieth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty and two

This Will was proved on the seventeenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty four before the reverend John Crane clerk surrogate &c by the oath of Edward Reeve son of the deceased and sole executor to whom Administration of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the sd deceased was Grated and Committed on the thirtieth day of the said Month of April he being first Sworn duly to Administer.
