Transcript

In the Name of God Amen this 12 day of April 1768 I Samuel Reeve of Southold in the County of Suffolk and Province of New York being now sick and inferm in body but of sound minde and memory; Do make and ordain this as my last Will:
First I give the use and improvement of my whole Estate to my beloved wife Mehetable Reeve both real and personal during the time she remain my Widdow the personal Estate to be wholy att her dispose as she shall see fitt but after her Death or marriage which shall first happen then I give all the remainder of my whole Estate to the sons of my Deceased Brother Jonathan Reeve in equal Degree to them their heirs and assigns forever.
Lastly I nominate and appoint my beloved wife Mehetable Reeve to be sole executrix of this my last Will and I do hereby revoke make null and void all former Wills and bequests by me att any time before made ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament the words in equall Degree was interlined before sealing.

Signed sealed pronounced and declare by the above named Samuel Reeve as his last Will and Testament in presence of us Nathaniel Overton, William Hillbard, Rot Hempsted.

Suffolk County } Be it Remembered that on the twenty sixth day of April one thousand seven hundred and sixty eight personally came and appeared before me Samuel Landon Surrogate of the said County Nathaniel Overton, William Hubbard and Robert Hempsted of the County aforesaid yeomen and being duly sworn on their oaths declare that they and each of them did see Samuel Reeve sign and seal the within written Instrument, purporting to be the Will of the said Samuel Reeve bearing date the twelfth day of April 1768 And heard him publish and declare the same to be and contain his last Will and Testament that at the time thereof he the said Samuel Reeve was of sound disposing mind and memory to the best of the Knowledge and belief of them the Deponents: And that their Names subscribed to the said Will are of their respective proper hands writing which they subscribed as witnesses to the said Will in the Testators presence

Sir Henry Moore Baronet Captain General and Governor in Chief in and over the Province of New York and the Territories depending thereon in America Chacellor and Vice Admiral of the same. To all to whom these Presents shall come or may concern Greeting. Know Ye, that at Suffolk County on the twenty sixth day of April last before Samuel Landon Esquire thereunto delegated and appointed, the last Will and Testament of Samuel Reeve, deceased (a copy whereof is hereunto annexed) was proved, and is now approved and allowed of by me, the said Deceased having whilst he lived and at the time of his Death Goods Chattels and Credits within this Province by means whereof the proving and registering the said Will, and the granting Administration of all and singular the said Goods Chattels and Credits, and also the Auditing allowing and final discharging the Account thereof doth belong unto me. And that Administration of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said Deceased, and any way concerning his Will, is granted unto Mehetable Reeve the Executrix in the said Will named, being first duely Sworn well and faithfully to Administer the same, and to make and Exhibit a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the said Goods Chattels and Credits, and also to render a just and true Account thereof when thereunto required, In Testimony whereof I have caused the Prerogative Seal of the Province of New York, to be hereunto affixed at the City of New York, the twentieth day of August one thousand seven hundred and sixty eight
