Samuel appears on a list of freeholders in Suffolk County in 1737.

Samuel wrote his will on 12 Apr 1768 and it was proved 26 Apr 1768. He gave everything to his wife "Mehetable" and whatever remained after her decease to his brother Jonathan.

Samuel was buried in the Old Burying Ground of the First Pres Church of Southold. His headstone reads: "In Memory of Mr/Samuel Reeve/who departed/this life April the 16 AD 1768 Aged/63 Years 3 Mo and/22 Days."
