Transcript

This Indenture made this twelfth day of November in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred & seventy six, between Frances Epes of Martin & Brandon parish & County of Prince George of the one part & Timothy Rieves of the County of Sussex of the other part Witnesseth that the said Francis Epes for & in consideration of the sum of one hundred & Eighty pounds current money to her in hand paid by the said Timothy Rieves at or before the sealing & delivery of these presents paid by the said Timothy Rieves at or before the sealing & delivery of these presents the receipt whereof she doth hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained & sold aliened enfeoffed released & confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain & sell alien & enfeoff release and confirm unto the said Timothy Reives his heirs & assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land situate & lying on Joans hole swamp in the parish of Albemarle in the County of Sussex aforesaid containing by estimation two hundred & thirty acres more or less it being the land purchased by the said Frances Epes of a certain John Vordl? & Susanna his wife by Indenture of bargain & sale bearing date the twenty eighth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & Sixty eight and duly recorded in the Court of Sussex County reference thereunto being had will more fully appear and all houses out houses buildings, yards, gardens, orchards, woods, underwoods, ways waters, watercourses, profits, commodities, hereditaments & appurtenances whatsoever to the said tract or parcel of land belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion & reversions remainder & remainders, rents, issues & profits thereof and all the estate right title interest, property, claim & demand whatsoever of the said Francis Epes of in or to the said land & premises or any part or parcel thereof To have and to hold the said tract of land & premises hereun before mentioned with their and every of appertinances unto the said Timothy Rieves his heirs & assigns to the only proper use & behoof of the said Timoty Rieves his heirs and assigns forever, & the said Francis Epes Do covenant promise & grant to and with the said Timothy Rieves his hiers & assigns by these presents that the said Frances Epes the above granted land and premises & every part & parcel thereof unto the said Timothy Rieves, his heirs & assigns against the awful claims & demands of any person or persons whatsoever shall & will warrant & forever defend by these presents. In witness whereof the said Frances Epes hath hereunto set her hand & affixed her seal the day & hear first above written.

This Indenture was proved to be the act & deed of the thereto subscribed Frances Epes by the oath of Timothy Rives one of the witnesses thereto & at another court held for the said county the 15th day of May in the same year the said Indenture was further proved by Peter Williams another witness thereto & at another court held for the same County the 17th day of July in the same year the said Indenture was further proved by the other named Timothy Rives a third witness thereto & by the court ordered to be recorded.
