Transcript
This Indenture made the Twenty Eighth day of February in the year of our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred and Seventy Eight Between George Reeves of Henry County of the one part and Henry Hartless of Amherst County of the other part Witnesseth that the said George Reeves for and in consideration of the sum of Thirty five pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said Henry Hartless the Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, hath Bargained and sold and by these presents doth bargain sell, enfeooff & confirm unto the said Henry Hartless his heirs and Assigns forever one certain Tract or parcell of land situate in Amherst County on the branches of the South Fork of Buffaloe River and on the long Mountain containing two hundred & fifteen acres, and Bounded as followeth Viz, Begining at a Red Oak and Runing thence North 63 Degrees East 20 poles to a pointers north 77 Degrees East 40 poles to pointers north 23 poles to a Hickory East 156 poles to pointers South 8 Degrees East 126 poles to a white oak the same course contained 22 poles to a Spanish oak, south 25 Degrees West 94 poles to pointers North Eighty Degrees West Two hundred poles to a pointers north thirty four poles to pointers north fifty five Degrees East 50 poles to pointers North 33 Degrees, East 106 poles to the Beginning To have and to hold the said Two hundred and fifteen acres of land with all and singular the premises thereunto belonging or in any wise Appertaining unto the said Henry Hartless his heirs and Assigns forever, and the said George Reeves for himself his heirs &c, doth Covenant and agree with the said Henry Hartless his heirs &c that he the said George Reeves the above sold land and premises will forever warrant & Defend and the said Henry Hartless his heirs & Assigns forever, against the Right Title claime or Demand, or any person or persons whatsoever, In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the Date above writtenSigned Sealed & Delivered }George Reeves (LS)

This Deed Indented was proved by the oath of Roderick McCullock one of the witnesses thereto, and ordered to lie for further proof- And at a Court held for the aforesaid County the Seventh Day of September 1778 the said Deed was further proved by the oath of Richard Davis and Francis Veale two of the witnesses thereto, and ordered to be Recorded.
