To, all to whom these presents shall come Greeting - Know Ye that we for and in consideration of the Sum of Ten Pounds for every hundred acres hereby Granted Paid into our Treasury by Samuel Reaves have Given and Granted & by these presents do Give & Grant unto the sd. Samuel Reaves a Tract of Land Containing 150 acres Lying & being in our County of Rowan On both sides of Bever Dam Creek Beginning at a white Oak on the Line of Montgomery County Runing thence north 38 chs. to a Post Oak Runing west 23 chs. to a post Oak on John Coggons line thence along it South 15 chs. to a Swamp White Oak his Corner thence along his other line West (?) chs. to a Stake thence 23 chs. to a stake on the County line thence East along the Same to the Beginning as by the plat hereunto annexed doth appear Together Together (sic) with all woods waters mines minerals hereditaments & appurtenances to the sd. Land belonging or appertaining To Hold to the sd. Samuel Reaves his heirs & Assigns for ever Yielding & paying to us Such Sums of mony Yearly or otherwise as our General Assembly may from time to time Direct Provided Always that the sd Samuel Reaves Shall cause this Grant to be Registered in the Registers office of our Said County of Rowan within twelve months from the Date hereof otherwise the Same Shall be Void & of no Effect In Testimony Whereof we have Caused these our Letters to be Made Patent & our Grate Seal to be hereunto affixed - Witness Samuel Johnston Esqr. &c at Edenton the 18th day of May in the 13th Year of our Independence & in the Year of our Lord 1789 -
