Transcript

This Indenture made this 15th day of January one thousand seven hundred & ninety one in the sixteenth year of the independence of america between Benjamin Rieves planter of the State of So Carolina of the one part & William Shadrick planter of the other part Witnesseth that for & in consideration of the sum of five pounds in hand paid by the said William Shadrick to said Benjamin Rives the receipt hereof is hereby fully acknowledged the Benjamin Rives hath given granted bargained sold & by these doth give grant bargain and sell unto the said William Shadrick his heirs and assigns a certain piece or tract of land containing thirty acres it being the west side of sd Rives land bounded on the north west by Grean land on the East by sd Rives's land it being part of Rieves three hundred & ninety six acres granted to sd Rives to East by Swints and on all other sides by sd Shadricks land & on the west side of the Cataba River to have and to hold the afored tract of thirty acres of land with all appurtenances & all rights priviledges improvements to the in any wise belonging to him the sd Wm Shadrick his heirs & assigns for ever & the sd Benja Rives for his heirs & assigns doth hereby covenant & agree to & with the sd Wm Shadrick his heirs & assigns shall & may forever hereafter peaceably & quietly have hold occupy possess and enjoy the aforesaid granted land & premises without the least molestation of any person or persons whatsoever free & clear from all manner of incumbrances whatsoever & the said Benjn Rives doth oblige himself his heirs & assigns to warrant & defend the aforesd granted tract of land & premises unto the sd Wm Shadrick his heirs assigns for ever against the claims of all persons whatsoever in witness whereof the parties have hereunto set their hand & seal the day & year above written

Chester Cty } Personally appeared Thos Neely before me & being duly sworn on oath says that he saw Benjn Rives sign acknowledge his seal & deliver the within instrument of writing to Wm Shadrick for the purposes there contained & that he saw Wm Shadrick & Jacob Cooper Sign the same as Subscribing witness with himself. Sworn & subscribed the 15th day of April A D 1793
