Transcription

This Indenture made the Twenty Second Day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred & Ninety one Between William Reeves & Milly Reeves of the one part of Guilford County & State of North Carolina & Samuel Mileham of the State & County affsd of the other part Witnesseth that the Sd William Reeves & Milley Reeves for & in Consideration of the Sum of one hundred & Twenty pounds To them in hand Payd By the Sd Samuel Mileham Before the Signing & Ensealing of these presents all Redy paid the Receipt whereof they Do Confess & acknowledge themselves there with fully Satisfied Contented & paid hath Bargained Granted Sold alined (sic aliened) enfeoffed & Confirmed & By these presents Doth Grant Bargain Sell alien Enfeoff Release & Confirm Unto the Sd Samuel Mileham his his (sic) Heirs & assigns for ever one Certain Tract or parcel of Land Situate Lying & Being in the County of Guilford Containing By Estimation three hundred & Twenty Acres of Land Be the Same more or Less which Land is part of A Larger Tract of Land Granted Unto George Jurdan Junr. as may more fully appear by Deed Bearing Date the Twenty ninth day of October one thousand Seven hundred and fifty three by Earl Granville his agent Francis Corban Eqs & afterwards Conveyed by the Sd. George Jurdan Unto Jonathan White thence by Jonathan White Unto John Harris & by Sd. Harris Unto James Reeves as may appear by the Deed & Record of Rowan County Registered by John Brawley in Book C No page 573 thence by the Testament of James Reeves by his Will Unto his Son & wife the Said William Reeves & Milley Reeves & now by them Unto the above Sd. Samuel Mileham all that Tract or parcel of Land Beginning at a poplar on the South Side of haw River then Runing west Eighty perches to a Red Oak then South To Silver Creek Now known by the Name of Mears fork & Down Sd. Creek to haw River Joyning William Williams Line thence By a Direct Line to the first Station To have and To hold & peaceably to Enjoy all that Tract or parcel of Land & premises Containing By Estimation Three hundred & Twenty acres be the Same More or Less Togather with all & Singular Rights & Benefits profits woods ways houses & hereditaments thereunto Belonging or in any wise appertaining to the Same as also all the Stake (?) Right Title Interest property Claim & Demand whatsoever of them sd. William Reeves & Milly Reeves of in & to the Sd. Land & Premises & of & To every part & parcel thereof Unto the Sd. Samuel Mileham to his heirs & assigns forever him or them yielding & paying Such Sum or Sums as our general assembly Shall Direct for Sd. Land from Time to Time & that then sd. Reeves against all people Shall & will Warrant & for ever defend Sd. Land & premises from us our heirs or assigns any claiming any Just Right or Title to Sd. Land or premises whatsoever Unto the Only use & Behoof of Sd. Mileham his heirs & assigns for ever In witness whereof we Wm. Reeves & Milly Reeves have hereunto Set our hands & affixed our Seals the Day & Year above Mentioned.

Commentary

The Last Will & Testament of James Reeves left this property to son, William, but it was to remain the property of James' wife, Milley, until her death. Accordingly this deed conveying that property to Samuel Mileham was executed by William Reeves, his mother Milley Reeves and William's wife Hannsh.
