This Indenture made this thirteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & ninety three Between Mathew Harper of the State of South Carolina and Spartanburgh County of the one part & William Reeves Senr of the same place of the other part Whereas the said Mathew Harper for & in consideration of the sum of one hundred & fifty pounds sterling to him in hand well & truly paid at or before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given granted & sold & by these presents doth give grant bargain & sell alien & release convey & confirm unto the said William Reeves his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying & being in the State and County aforesaid & on both sides of the South fork of Pacolet river being part of a tract of land originally granted to Joseph White - then for the province of North Carolina & again granted unto Mathew Harper Senr in the then provence of South Carolina by his excellency William Bull Esquire Governor & Commander in chief for the time being by a grant bearing date the third day of Feby AD one thousand seven hundred & seventy five & duly recorded in the secretarys office as by reference thereto had may more fully appear - and hath such butings and boundings as follows Beginning at a Red Oak one hundred & twenty poles from the beginning corner of the aforesaid tract of land & the N Side of the river and running 155 Degrees weoopoles to a spanish oak on part of the same tract of land thence No 55 Degrees E 320 poles to a black oak thence to the beginning to include two hundred acres more or less including the plantation whereon the said Reeves now lives Bounded to the NW & SE by part of the same tract & to the SW by Samuel Fowlers Land & to the NE by William MClures land Together with all and singular the woods ways waters & watercourses buildings Improvements & appurtenances whatsoever to the same belonging or on any wise appurtaining with the rents issues & profits thereof unto the said William Reeves his heirs and assigns forever free & clear from all former sales mortgages judgments executions dowers & rights of dowers & all other incumbrances whatsoever peaceably & quietly to possess & enjoy the same and have & to hold the above described tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the proper use & behoof of him the said William Reeves his heirs & assigns forever & he the said Mathew Harper his heirs Exrs & admrs the said tract or parcel of two hundred acres of land above described & every part parcel and members thereof unto the said William Reeves his heirs & assigns against all & every person or persons lawfully claiming the said premises or any part thereof shall & will warrant & as well in equity as in law by these presents forever defend in witness whereof the said Mathew Harper hath hereunto set his hand & affixed his seal the day & year first above writtenSigned sealed & delivered in the }Matthew Harper (Seal)

Spartan County } Before James Hooper a Justice for Sd County personally came John Reeves one of the subscribing witnesses & made oath in due form of law that he saw Matthew Harper Senr sign seal & deliver the written deed of two hundred acres of land bearing date 1793 - to William Reeves for the contents therein mentioned & he also saw Jacob Fleming the other subscribing witness sign his name thereto sworn to and subscribed before me this 22nd day of Septr in the year of our Lord 1795
