Transcript

This Indenture made this sixteenth day of April in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred & ninety three between William Cabell of the County of Amherst of the one part and Peggy Rives & Robert Rives her husband of the same County of the other part; Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which the said William Cabell bears to his Daughter Peggy Rives and from a desire to place her in as comfortable a situation as the means which providence has put in his power will enable him; he doth by these presents give grant & confirm unto the said Peggy Rives & her husband Robert Rives and their heirs forever one certain tract or parcel of land containing eight hundred acres be the same more or less being & lying in the County of Amherst on both sides of Ruckers Run & its Branches which is part of a larger tract granted to the said William Cabell by the commonwealth of Virginia the nineteenth day of October one thousand seven hundred & eighty four & designated in the plats thereof by no. 7 and 9 and his bounded as followeth to wit. Beginning at pointers in Somasas? line and with it North seventy nine Degrees East 580 poles to pointers in the patent line & with it North 59 East 42 poles to pointers corner to No. 4 and with Its line south 38 E 134 to pointers corner to No 6 and with its line South fifty eight W 320 to pointers corner to No 8 & with its line S 47 W 220 to pointers thence a new one N 41 W 410 poles to the Begining and now in the possession of the said Peggy & Robert Rives and also all the estate right title Interest claim & Demand whatsoever of him the said William Cabell of in & to the same. To have and to hold the said land with its appurtenaces unto them the said Peggy & Robert Rives & their heirs forever. And the said William Cabell this Heirs the land aforesaid with its appurtenances to them the said Peggy Rives & Robert Rives her husband their heirs and assigns against all persons whatsoever will warrant secure and forever defend by these presents, In witness whereof the said William Cabell hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day & year above written.
