Transcription

In the name of God amen: I John Coleman of Essex County being weak in Body but of Sound Senses and memory thanks be to God for the same, and calling to mind the uncertainty of this life, do make and ordain this my last will and Testament impremisses (sic) first I bequeath my soul into the hands of almighty God through the merits of my blessed savior to have a full pardon for all my sins, Secondly, I submit my Body to the Earth to be decently intered (sic) by the direction of my Executors hereafter mentioned Etc and as touching my Temporal Estate as it has been pleased God to bless me with in this life I give and dispose in manners and form following Vizt first ~ I lend my beloved wife Susanah Coleman all my Estate during her natural life, Secondly it is my will and desire that all my Estate Shall be Equally divided after the death of my beloved wife above mentioned amongst my children Elizabeth, Robert, Spencer, Caty, Philip, Martin and Austine Coleman. Lastly I appoint Mr. Robert Lumkin and John Lumkin my whole and sole Executors of this my last will and Testament. IN WITNESS whereof I have hereunto set my hand & Seal this 11th day of October 1793, the words (and John Lumkin) interlined before Signed or Witnessed

At a Court held for Essex County at Tapp_a on the 20th Day of January 1794. This last Will and Testament of John Coleman was presented into Court by John Lumkin one of the Executors therein named and proved by William Jones, Ambrose Cooke and William Ball three of the Witnesses thereto, and ordered to be recorded, Whereon, on the motion of the said John Lumkin a Certificate was granted him for obtaining probate of the said Testament in due form, he having taken the oath and given Bond acc_g to law.
