Transcript

In the Name of God Amen. I Harbert Rives of Richland County and State of South Carolina being low and weak in Body, but of perfect mind and Memory, and calling unto mind the Mortality of my Body, and Knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Die - do make constitute and appoint this to be my last Will and Testament. Principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it and my Body I commend to the Earth to be Buried in a Decent Christian like manner at the Discression of my Executors hand. And as for such Worldly goods as it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life, I give demise and dispose of in manner and form following: First I give and bequeath to my beloved Brother Thomas Rives my negro Boy named Jerry and my new Saddle to him and his heirs forever, and the remainder of my Estate it is my wish and Desire that it be equally divided between my Mother Hannah Rives, my Brother Simon and Thomas Rives and my Neise Priscilla Dupree the Daughter of Reed and Polly Dupree to them and their Heirs forever ---
And it is wish and desire that my beloved Brother Simon and Thomas Rives (as above mentioned) do act as Executors to this my last Will and Testament,
