Transcript

In the Name of God, Amen, I Barnabas Reeve of the City of New York Grocer declareth this to be my last Will and Testament after my lawful Debts is paid my Funeral Charges and Doctor's Bolls, I give and bequeath into my wife Hanna Reeve all the Property in my house all the moveble affects belonging to my Family the Differant Charges is to be taken from my four ones Vizt hannah Reves, Thomas Reevs, Harra Reevs (sic) and yougest hanna Reves, the whole to be divided in four equal shares exept my Watch which I give to my oldest Son Thomas Reeves in remembrance of me, the meaning of the first Part of this Will is that the Charges is to be paid out of the whole Property I farther declare it to be my Will and Desire that my Wife Hanna should keep the Family together this Winter and occopy this house during my Lease or otherwise with the consent of my oldest Children to make the bess of it for ther whole advantage in order to see these are faithfully discharged I nominated Daniel Reeves my Brother and John Buckanan to be my lawful Exactors to see that Justice is done to my Children In witness whereof I hear set my hand and seel this the 7th Day of Octr 1795

City and County of New York SS Be it remembered that on the tenth day of November in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety five personally came and appeared before David Gelston Surrogate of said County Robert Stanton of the said City and being duly sworn on his oath declared that he saw Barnabas Reeves sign and seal an Instrument in writing purporting to be the Will of the said Barnabas Reeves) bearing date the 7th day of Octr 1795 (the preceding whereof is a true copy) and heard him publish and declare the same as and for his last Will and Testament & that at the time thereof he the said Barnabas Reeve was of sound disposing mind and memory to the best of the Knowledge and Belief of him the Deponent that his name subscribed as a Witness to the said Will is of his own proper hand Writing which he subscribed as a Witness thereto in the Testator's Presence and that he saw John Dennison and John Buchanan the other Witnesses to the said Will subscribe their names as Witnesses thereto in the Presence of the Testator.
