This Indenture made this 29 Day of January Anno Domini one thousand Seven hundred and ninety six Between Theophilus Evans and Jesse Reves both of Wilkes County North Carolina Witnesseth that he the Said Theophilus Evans for an in Consideration of the sum of Seventy five pounds to him in hand paid by said Jesse Reves the Receipt whereof the said Theophilus Evans doth hereby acknowledge & himself therewith fully satisfied and paid hath granted Bargained Sold Conveyed and Confirmed and by these presents Doth fully Clearly and absolutely Grant Bargain sell Convey and Confirm unto the said Jesse Reves his heirs and assigns forever a tract of Land Containing two Hundred Acre lying in the County of Wilkes Beginning on the West Side of William Maxwell’s Line on Little Elk Creek formerly Beverly Watkins’ Entry at three White oaks Runing west eight pole to Chestnut thence East five Hundred pole to a Spanish oak & hicory thence North one hundred and Sixty pole to a Crab Apple tree North (?) the Creek thence West along Said Maxwell’s Line one hundred and Ninety two pole being the Corner of said Maxwell’s Line thence North along Said Line twenty pole to the first Station together with Every Right title priviledge and Emolument to the Said Land Belonging or in any wise appertaining and he the Sd. Theophilus Evans Doth bind himself his heirs Executors and Administrators Well and truly to Warrant and forever Defend the Aforesaid premises With All the Appurtenances to him the Said Jesse Reves his heirs and assigns free and Clear of all incumbrances and Claims whatsoever. In Witness whereof he the said Theophilus Evans hath hereunto Set his hand and Seal the Day above Written
