Transcript

I Selah Reeve of the Township of Newburgh in the county of Ulster and State of New York being weak in Body but of a sound disposing mind and memory calling to mind the mortality of my Body Do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following.
Imprimis I Give and bequeath my immortal soul to God that gave it and my Body to the Dust to be Buried in a decent and Christian like manner
Item I order and direct my Executors of this my last Will and Testament herein after nominated and appointed by me to pay all my Just and lawfull debts and funeral charges out of my moveable estate.
Item I Give and bequeath to my beloved wife Keturah Reeve the use of all my Lands and movable estate untill my youngest child shall arrive to lawfull age, my will and meaning is that all my Estate both Real and Personal be equally divided amongst all my Children, and if any of them should die under age and without isue his her or their part to be equally divided amongst my then surviving children and that the heirs of him that now is and the heirs of those that may be deceased at the time of division shall receive their Fathers or Mothers part of this my estate as soon as they shall arrive to lawfull age, Reducting out of the parts of my three daughters that are now married the value of what they have already received of my estate.
Lastly I do nominate constitute and appoint my beloved wife Keturah Reeve and my son Benjamin S. Reeve and my son Selah Reeve executors of this my last Will and Testament authorizing and impowering them and the survivor or survivors of them to execute and fulfill this my last will and Testament as fully and absolutely as can be required by law.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this eleventh day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety six.

Signed Sealed published pronounced and declared by the above named Selah Reeve to be his last Will and Testament and at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses.

Ulster County } Be it remembered that on the twentyfirst day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety six personally came appeared before me Joseph Gasherie surrogate of the said County Gilbert Jones of the town of Newburgh in the said County Physician and being duly sworn on his oath declared that he did see Selah Reeve sign and seal the within written instrument purporting to be the Will of the said Selah Reeve bearing date the eleventh day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety six and heard him publish and declare the same as and for his last will and testament that at the time thereof he the said Selah Reeve, was of sound disposing mind and memory to the best of the knowledge and belief of him the deponent and that David Fowler and Moses Higby together with the deponent subscribed the said Will as witnesses thereto in the testators presence
