This Indenture made the second day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & Ninety Six & in the twentieth year of American Independence, between Daniel Reeves of the County of Wilkes & State aforesaid of the one & James Cade of the same County & State of the other part Witnesseth that the said Daniel Reeves for an (sic) Inconsideration of the Sum of five hundred dollars to him in hand well & truly paid by the Said James Cade before the sealing and delivery of these presence the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said Daniel Reeves & himself fully Satisfied and paid have granted bargained sold & by these presence doth Grant bargain sell release and Confirm unto the said James Cade & to his heirs & assigns forever all that tract or parcel of Land Situate lying & being in the Said County of Wilkes on both Sides of Pistol Creek Containing two hundred & sixty two Acres & bounded as follows (to wit) begining (sic) at a Corner hickory & running S 50 Chains to a Corner white Oak on Pistol Creek thence East down said Creek 50 Chs. To a Corner dogwood thence N 50 Chs. To a corner Red Oak thence West 50 Chs. To a Corner hickory the Same being two hundred & fifty acres Granted by his honour the Governor Thomas Littles heirs by Granted dated the twenty Second day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred & Eighty five, also twelve acres on the South Side of Pistol Creek being the twelve acres sold by Joseph Pulling to Daniel Reeves by Deed bearing date the fourteenth day of September in the year of Our Lord one thousand Seven hundred & Ninety three and bounded as follows (to wit) beginning at a Cedar hickory on South side of Pistol Creek & runing (sic) 7 Chains to a Corner Willow oak thence So. 70 W, 6 Chs. To a White Oak thence West 3 Chs. To a pine thence N. 32 Chs. To a White Oak thence North 60 W, 1 Ch. 50 links to a white oak thence N, 75, W, 5 Chs. To a Corner maple thence West three Chs. Fifty links to a Corner willow Oak thence South thirty West 4 Chs, to a corner maple thence S, 80 W, 4 Chs. To a corner Elm thence N, 80 West two Chs, to a corner pine thence South 70 W, 2 Chs. A corner Willow Oak, thence N, 45 East 12 Chs. To a corner black oak on Pistol Creek thence down the Various course of said to the begining (sic) Corner hickory. Together with all & singular the rights members & appertenances (sic) thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to the Same & the said Daniel Reeves being the right true and Lawfull owner of the above bargained land and premises will warrant and forever defend the same to the only proper use benefit and behoof of him the said James Cade and to his heirs and Assigns forever In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand affixed my seal the day and date being first above written –
