Transcript

This Indenture made the Sixth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred ninety Eight between James Chappell of the County of Davidson and State of Tennessee of the one part and Robert Carter Reeves of the County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said James Chappell for and in consideration of the sum of Fifty eight dollars to him in hand paid by the said Reeves at and before the Ensealing and delivery of these presents with the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge himself fully satisfied and contented hath granted bargained sold aliened Enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien enfeoff and confirm unto the said Reeves his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land, containing Forty four acres situate lying and being in the County of Davidson and South side of Cumberland River and bounded as follows towit: Beginning at an Ash and walnut South East corner to a survey of John Blairs running the South Fifty Eight poles to a Red Oak corner to John Buchanans Premption thence West one hundred and twenty two poles to a white oak on the line William Lewis survey thence West one (?) and twenty two poles to the Beginning. To have and to hold the above granted premises and appurtenances thereto belonging or in anywise appertaining with all and singular the Benefits and Emoluments thereout and therefrom to ause and the said Robert C Reeves his heirs and assigns forever and the said James Chappell for himself his heirs Extrs and Admrs doth covenant grant and agree to and with the said Reeves his heirs and assigns that unto him and them he and them they said premises hereby intended to be conveyed will warrant and forever defend against the claim and demand of all persons lawfully claiming. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year first above written.

The execution of which Deed of conveyance as above executed was (?) for the County of Davidson July Sessions 1802, proven to be the act and deed of the said James Chappell by the Oath of James Mulheim a subscribing witness thereto
