Transcript

This Indenture made the eighth day of June in the year of our Lord Christ One thousand seven hundred ninety & nine Between George Reaves of the County of Patrick O the one part and John Phillips of the County of Henry of the other part In witness whereof the said George Reeves for and consideration of the sum of fifty pounds current money of Virginia To him in hand paid by the said John Phillips at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is here by acknowledged hath bargained sold released and confirmed unto the said John Phillips his heirs and assigns forever part of a ten? acre tract piece or parcell of land situate lying and being in the County of Henry on Hicks Mill Creek containing thirty acres be the same more or less and bounded as followeth to wit Beginning at a small white oak sapling standing on the bank of a dry hollow or gulley near the head in old line and thence north five (?) eight poles to a poplar north thirty six (?) seventy two poles to an oak on a branch of Hickes Mill Creek thence down the said branch & Creek as they meander to the mouth of the said dry hollor or gulley thence up the same to the Beginning with all waterways water and water courses fences trees orchards houses and all other the emoluments appertaining or in any wise belonging there unto To have and to hold the same to him the said John Phillips and his heirs and assigns forever again me my heirs my wife Mary and her heirs or either of us our heirs and all and every other person or persons whatsoever either in law or equity recovering claiming or having any suit right title or estate therein but do by these presents forever warrant and defend the land and premises above mentioned to the said John Phillips his heirs and successors. To hold and fully enjoy the same In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year above written.

At a Court held for Henry County on the 24th day of June 1799
The within written Indenture was proved by the oaths of two of the witnesses thereto to be the act & Deed of the within named George Reeves & ordered to be certified and afterwards to wit, at a court held for Henry County on the 27th day of January 1800 the same was further proved by one other of witness thereto to be the act & Deed of the said George Reeves And the same was ordered to be recorded by the Court
