pp. 193-4, “The several persons appointed to View and mark out a way for a road from the Clover road near Robert McCallin to main licking opposite Esquire Fosters by way of Elijah Reev’s Mill, this day returned their report in the words and figures following, to wit; January 31st 1803 Agreeable to an Order of Court to us directed we have Viewed and marked out a way for a road from the Clover road near Robert McCallins to Elijah Reevs’es Mill, thence to Licking opposite Squire Fosters and find it a tolerable way for a road and not very hard to open but the people are thinly settled, and we think that to open the end next the River all the hands should be taken between the road, the river and Foxes Creek, and all on the East side of the road to Foxes Creek and on the North of the Creek, all the hands that live in the bounds of Mosby’s big survey to the line between the 10th and 11th lot John Cline oversees, and to open from the Mill to the Clover road, all the hands within two miles and a half on each side, and within two miles of the end Joel Havens, Overseer. As to the people whose land the road runs through we know but fiew of them. We know that it runs through Elijah Reevs’es and he is willing. Also through lands said to belong to Hart and Brown in Lexington. Also through Thomas Roden’s who is the only person that has any objection to make and we conceive it will hurt him considerable having but a small spot of good ground and the road through it in a triangular form, and we pray the Court to let him turn it 20 or 25 pole Which will save the poor man’s land and not damage the road any thing considerable. Sign’d Benjamin Northcut John Royse John Walton
Whereupon it is ordered that said road be established as a public high way agreeably to said report, except that leave be given Thomas Roaden to turn it on the line between his land and the lands owned by John Walton to said Waltons fence, thence a straight line to the Gap. And that Joel Havens be appointed Overseer thereof from the Clover road to said Reevs’es Mill, and that he have all the hands within two and one half miles of said road on the North side of Foxes Creek to work under him thereon.
