This Indenture made the twenty eighth day of January, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and one, between Henry Mitchell and Fanny his wife, late Fanney Hobs of the County of Hancock State of Georgia of the one part & Briggs Rives of the County of Prince George and State of Virginia of the other part; Witnesseth that the said Henry Mitchell & Fanney his wife for and in consideration of the sum eight hundred Dollars, to them in hand paid before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, Have granted, bargained, sold, released and confirmed, & by these presents do grant, bargain, sell release and confirm unto the said Briggs Rives his heirs & assigns, all that tract of land containing four hundred and fifty acres, be the same more or less; lying and being in the County of Prince George and State of Virginia on Blackwater Swamp, Adjoining Holloway's land on the East; Butler's land on the North and lands of said Rives on the west.To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land, with all the privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining, unto the said Briggs Rives, his heirs and assigns, to the only proper use, benefit and behoof of the said Briggs Rives his heirs and assigns forever.
And the said Henry Mitchell and Fanney his wife, for themselves, their heirs, executors and administrators, do covenant& agree to and with the said Briggs Rives, his heirs and assigns, to warrant & forever defend the aforesaid tract or parcel of land against the just claim or claims of all persons whatever.
In witness whereof the said Henry Mitchell & Fanny his wife, have hereunto set their hands & seals the day and year above written.
