Transcript

To All to whom those presents shall come Greeting Know ye that I Benjamin Reeves of the State of South Carolina & Chester District, Planter, for and in consideration of the Love Good Will and Affection which I have and do Bear Towards my Beloved Daughter (Sarah Harper) children, Have Given and Granted and by these presents do freely Give and Grant unto my said Grand Children after the death of their Mother the aforesaid Sarah Harper to them and their heirs forever four Culane Negroes viz. Lucy Mery Dick & Cato with these I___ now being in my possession Before the signing of these presents Nevertheless if any the above children should die without issue of its own Body then the surviving children of the above named Sarah Harper is to divide the Distribute share of the deceased my rand children the issue of my Daughter Sarah Harper do divide Equally, the aforesaid four Negroes and their increase of the death of their mother.
To Have and to hold the said four negroes and their increase to them their heirs & assigns for ever.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this eleventh day of October one thousand eight hundred and five.

Henry Turner Personally came Before me the subscribing Justice & Declared on oath that he saw Benjamin Reeves sign and acknowledge the within Instrument of writing for the purposes therein mentioned & that he saw Middleton McDonald Jurat & Wm Crowder subscribe their names together with himself as subscribing witnesses to the same
