This indenture made this first day of April, in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and seven, and in the thirty first of American Independency, between Ephraim Clanton, of the state of South Carolina, Kershaw District, planter, of the one part, Alexander Archer, of the state and district aforesaid of the other part, witnesseth, that the said Ephraim Clanton, for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath bargained, sold, aliened, enfeoffed and confirmed unto and by these presents doth bargain, sell and confirm unto the said Alexander Archer a certain parcell or tract of land, containing one hundred and twenty seven acres more or less, situate on a branch of Beaver Creek, N E side of the Wateree river, in said district, being part of two tracts of land, the one granted to Adam M Willie, the other granted to Isaac Knox, bounded on the N. by a line run as a dividing line between Joseph Cunningham and the said Ephraim Clanton, on the west by George Hayes's land, and Isaac Knoxes land, on the S. by land belonging to the heirs of Robert Lee, deceased, on the east by Alexander Archers land. To have and to hold all and singular the premises before mentioned, unto the said Alexander Archer, his heirs administrators and assigns forever. And I the said Ephraim Clanton do, for myself my heirs, administrators and assigns, warrant and forever defend the aforesaid one hundred and twenty seven acres of land, more or less, together with all the rents, profits, or issues, that doth or may arise therefore, unto the said Alexander Archer, his heirs and assigns, forever, against my heirs, administrators and assigns, and all other persons whomsoever (the River company excepted) claiming or to claim the same, or any part thereof. Received the within consideration money in full, this first day of April 1807.

South Carolina Kershaw District. Thomas Archer personally appeared before men and made Oath as the law directs, and saith, that he was personally present and saw Ephraim Clanton and Gemima Clanton his wife sign, seal and deliver the within deed to Alexander Archer for the title to the within mentioned land, likewise saw John McWalley Archer and Asa Reaves, together with himself, sign their names as witnesses thereunto. Sworn to before me June 23 1807.
