The evidence for Mrs. Jemima Clanton being the daughter of Moses Reeves is circumstantial, but very convincing. She was the wife of Ephraim Clanton as made clear by Kershaw County, SC deeds and Ephraim's estate record from Fairfield County. He was named as a buyer at the estate sale of Moses Reeves. The estate also made provision for the schooling of a Reuben Clanton, likely a son of Ephraim and Jemima. In 1807, she and Ephraim deeded some land in Kershaw County and Asa Reeves was a witness to it. In Ephraim's estate file from 1823, Moses Reeves along with a couple others held the administration bond. In addition, after the death of Ephraim, the Clanton family moved to Lauderdale County, Alabama and lived near Jesse Reeves and other members of the Reeves family.
