Transcript

THIS INDENTURE made this 12th day of February in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight hundred and Eleven between Archibald Reeves of the County of orange and State of North Carolina of the one part and Edmond & Michell Maughon of the County of Chatham and State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said Archibald Reives (sic) for and in consideration of the Sum of Seven hundred and fifty dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and Sold unto the Said Edmond & Michell Maughon a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Chatham on the west Side of New Hope Creek & Beginning at a white oak in Robert Parkers line Ruining the various Courses of New hope Creek to Jones’s corner a white oak thence South to Redfield Road thence up said Road westerly to the North and South line thence North to a post oak in Parkers line thence East 80 poles across a Creek to the first Station Containing two hundred acres the Same more or less to have and to hold the said Lands a Second parcel bounded as follows(viz) Beginning at a pine in the former tract Runing South 180 poles along Said line then North 33 poles along bynum other line to a pine west 26 poles to Bynums line then North 33 poles along said line to a pine then west 20 poles along Bynum’s other line to a pine Lasaters Corner then North 188 poles along Lasaters line to a pine Parkers Corner then East 49 poles to the Beginning Containing fifty acres & a third parcel bounded as follows (Viz) Beginning at a pine in the Road in the line of E-- Run out for John Hathcock Runing South with Said line 135 poles to a pine thence South Eighty five degrees East along a line of Marked trees to a Long Leaf pine in the Road thence up the various Courses of the Road to the first Station Containing fifty acres and the three parcels or tracts of Land Containing three hundred acres of land be the Same more or less and the Reversion and Reversions remainder and Remainders rents & Issues (?) and profits thereof and also all the Estate Right title Interest property Claim or demands whatsoever as well in Equity as in Law and the Said Reeves for himself his heirs & assigns forever the above described lands and premises warranting the Same to be free and Clear from all gifts grants sales or dower Judgments & Executions of the Sd. Rieves being possessed of a good Share perfect and indefensible estate of Inheritance in fee Simple In witness whereof the Said Archibald Rieves doth hereunto set his hand and Seal the day and (sic) first written.
