Transcript
In the name of God Amen.I James Reivs of State of South Carolina & District of Chester Being sick & weak in body, but of sound & disposing mind, memory and understanding praised be God for the same do make & declare this my last Will & Testament in manner & form following, that is to say first I will that all my lawful debts & contracts be paid & complied with.
In the second place I will & bequeath to my beloved wife Sarah H Reivs the one half of all my estate that I am in possession of or that I may be entitled to by law both personal & real, to dispose of at her death as she may think proper.
Third, I give & bequeath unto Brotherinlaw Henry N. Carter the other half of my estate provided or on condition he continues to live with & takes care of me & my wife, during my natural life, or lingering state of health I am in at present, and after my decease, to live with and provide for my wife Sarah during her natural life or untill they may mutually agree to separate.
And I do hereby nominate constitute & appoint Thos Carter (Senior) & Elijah Hyatt my executors of this my last will & Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty seventh day of Jany in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & fourteen

before me Joseph Brown ordinary of the said distrcit personally appeared Ralph McFadden & being duly sworn declares that he saw James Reives sign & acknowledge the within instrument of writing as his last will & testament and that he saw James Reives was then of sound & perfect mind & memory to the best of his knowledge & belief and that he the deponent together with Elijah Hyatt and Hannah Hyatt did subscribe as witness thereto in the presence & at the request of the testator at the same time quallifyed Thomas Carter executor & given under my hand this 5th day of April 1814
