Transcription

In the name of God amen. I William Tucker of the County of Halifax & State of Virginia, being in health, and sound mind and disposing memory do make and constitute this my last Will and testament, in manner and form following viz
First, I recommend my Soul to almighty God, who gave it, and my body to its mother earth to be directly buried in a Christian like manner, at the discretion of my Surviving Friends, & as to my Worldly estate, such as God has pleased to bless me with, I give and bequeath to my loving wife Tabitha Tucker, all the property which I had by her (to wit) Two two (sic) feather beds, furniture Steads and cords, one Chest, one Cupboard, one large Iron pot, one Small do (ditto), one Oven, one skillet, eight puter plates, twelve earthen do (ditto) two mugs one butter pat, one pitcher, one teapot, Six table spoons, one soup spoon one Cotton Wheel & pr of Cards, one table and two chairs, one Se- and Six shurts & twenty five pounds in Cash, to her and her heirs forever, also I lend to my Said Wife Tabitha, during her life or Widowhood, one hundred acres of land, lying on runaway Creek, two negroes, Peter and Orange, two Cows & Calves, one horse Saddle and bridle And at her death or marriage, I give the property to let to my Grand Son William T. Reves to him and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Nancy Reves my part in blacksmith Well & blacksmiths tools to her and her heirs forever Also I lend to my said Daughter Nancy the negroes Turner & Moses. Also my riding Gig & Harness One Cow & Calf and at my Said daughter nancy’s death I give the property to let, to her to my Grandson William T. Reves to him and his heirs forever. Item, I give (indecipherable) with to my Grandson William T. Reves in addition to the above mentioned legacies with my tract of land and premises Whereon I now live including the grist mill and its appurtenances one Copper still now cross cut (indecipherable) Sawd One feather bed, and furniture, one cupboard, one folding table, one desk one Chest, one Silver watch, Six Chairs, one Cart, (indecipherable) four chairs Seeds, one case of bottles, one horse one Cow & Calf, also the following negroes Solomon Patty and Hanna and their increase, Two (indecipherable) and all cash in hand at my death. To him and his heirs forever. Item, I give & bequeath to my Grand Daughter Nancy Reves, daughter of my said daughter Nancy Reves, one negro woman, Isabel and her future increase, and one negro boy Fell (?) One feather bed & furniture, & One Cow & calf to her and her heirs forever Item I give and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Elizabeth Reves Daughter of my said Daughter Nancy Reves, one negro woman Nelly & her Increase, one negro boy Jim, one feather bed and furniture and one Cow and Calf to her and her heirs forever. Item, I give and bequeath to my grandson Peter M. Reves one negro boy Sam One feather bed and furniture and one Cow & calf to him and his heirs forever Item My will and desire further is that all the residue of my estate that hath not been disposed off as above, be it of what kind soever be equally divided among my child & grand children (viz) my daughter Nancy Reves & her Children William T. Reves Nancy Reves Elizabeth Reves & Peter M. Reves in such manner that each have an equal Share thereof, to them and their heirs forever. Lastly I do appoint William T. Reves Executor to this my last Will & testament & do utterly revoke & disannul all other wills formerly by me made & do ratify & appoint this to be my last will & testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand & affixed my Seal this twenty fifth day of June in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred & fourteen.

At a Court held for Halifax County the 22nd day of January 1820 The within written last will and testament of William Tucker decd was exhibited in Court and proved by the oaths of three witnesses thereto Subscribed and Ordered to be recorded And on motion of William T. Reves the Executor therein named who made oath according to law Certificate is granted Leave for obtaining probate thereof in due form he giving Security whereupon he together with Peter Reves Charles Reves and James Old his Securities entered into and acknowledged their bond in the penalty of thirty thousand dollars Conditioned according to law.
