This Indenture made this Twelfth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fourteen Between William Reeves of the City of Baltimore in Baltimore County and State of Maryland Master Mariner of the one part and Thorndick Chase and John Snyder both of the City of Baltimore aforesaid Merchant of the other part Witnesseth that the said William Reeves for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars lawful money of the United States to him in hand paid by the said Thorndick Chase and John Snyder at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledhed hath bargained sold assigned transferred and set over and by these presents doth bargain sell assign transfer and set over unto the said Thorndick Chase and John Snyder their executors administrators and assigns all that piece or parcel of ground situate and lying in that part of the City of Baltimore aforesaid called Fells Point and distinguished on a plat thereof by the number 162 (one hundred and sixty two) which is contained within the metes and bounds courses and distances following that is to say Beginning for the same piece or parcel at the north east corner of Fleet Street and Starr Alley and running thence north bounding on Starr Alley sixty feet thence east parallel with Fleet Street twenty feet thence south parallel with Starr Alley to Fleet Street and thence west bounding on Fleet Street to the place of Beginning Together with all and singular the buildings thereupon erected made or being and all and every the rights liberties privileges appurtenances and advantages to the same piece or parcel of ground belonging or in any wise appertaining and also all the estate right title interest term of years yet to come and unexpired property claim and demand whatsoever both in law and equity of the said William Reeves of in unto and out of the same To Have And To Hold the piece or parcel of ground and premises above described and hereby assigned and transferred or meant mentioned or intended hereby so to be with the appurtenances unto the said Thorndick Chase and John Snyder their executors administrators and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of the said Thorndick Chase and John Snyder their executors administrators and assigns henceforth for and during all the rest residue and remainder of the term of years yet to come and unexpired therein by virtue of the original lease thereof with the benefit of renewal of said lease and term from time to time forever under and subject nevertheless to the payment of the yearly rent of fifteen dollars to such person or persons as shall or may be legally entitled to receive the same Provided always and these presents are upon this condition that if the said William Reeves his heirs executors or administrators do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the Said Thorndick Chase and John Snyder their executors administrators or assigns the aforesaid sum of three hundred dollars with legal interest thereon from the day of the date of these presents at or before the expiration of eighteen months from the date hereof then and in such case this Indenture and every clause matter and thing herein contained shall cease determine and be absolutely void any thing herein before contained to the contrary thereof in any wise notwithstanding And the said William Reeves for himself his heirs executors and administrators doth hereby covenant promise and agree to and with the said Thorndick Chase and John Snyder their executors administrators and assigns that the said William Reeves his heirs executors or administrators or some of them shall and will at or before the expiration of Eighteen months from the date hereof well and truly pay unto the aforesaid Thorndick Chase and John Snyder their executors administrators or assigns the aforesaid sum of three hundred dollars lawful money with legal interest thereon as aforesaid according to the purport true intent and meaning of these presents. And lastly it is hereby declared to be the true intent and meaning hereof and of the parties aforesaid that until default shall be made in the payment of the aforesaid sum of three hundred dollars & interest or some part thereof at the time above limited for the payment of the same it shall and may be lawful to and for the said William Reeves his executors administrators and assigns to hold use occupy and enjoy the ground and premises aforesaid with the appurtenances and the rent issues and profits thereof to have receive take and apply to his and their proper use and benefit he and they in the mean time paying the annual rent and performing the covenants to which the same premises under the original lease thereof are liable any thing herein before contained to the contrary thereof in any wise notwithstanding. In Testimony whereof the said William Reeves hath hereunto subscribed his name and affixed his seal on the day and year first above written

in the presence of State of Maryland Baltimore County } Be it remembered that on this twelfth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fourteen before the subscribers two Justices of the peace in and for the County aforesaid personally appears William Reeves the party of the first part named in the foregoing Indenture of Mortgage or instrument of writing and doth acknowledge the same to be his act and deed In Testimony whereof we hereunto subscribe our names on the day year aforesaidMatthew Bennett Peter Galt
