Transcript

This Indenture made this 25th day of August AD 1818 between Eli Reeves and Sarah Ann his wife of the County of Brown and State of Ohio of the one part and James Beard of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Eli Reeves for an in consideration of $873.00 to him in hand paid by the said James Beard has Granted Bargained and sold and by these presents doth Grant Bargain and sell unto the said James Beard his heirs executors administrators a certain tract of land being a part of a survey entered in the name of Presley Newill No1431, situate on the waters of Eagle Creek at or near the Indian Lick. Beginning at a beech and sugartree the NE corner of Robert Stuarts survey thence with his line W 253 poles to a Beech and Dogwood thence N61 E289 poles to a dead sugartree and two Barckeyes S140 poles to the Beginning the NW corner of George Fishers land containing 110 1/2 acres and 30 poles be the same more or less To have and to hold the said tract of land with the apppurtenances thereto belonging to him the said James Beard to his heirs assigns executors and administrators will forever warrant and defend the said tract of land unto the said James Beard his heirs assigns &c forever against all persons claiming the same lawfully In testimony we have set our hands and seals the day above written.

Personally appeared before me Thomas Robb a Justice of the Peace in and for the County aforesaid the within named Eli Reeves and did acknowledge the within signing and sealing to be his act and deed for the purposes therein named. And at the same time appeared Sarah Ann Reeves his wife and being separate and apart from her husband I made known to her the contents of the within conveyance and she said she dorse it with her own consent. In testimony hereof I have set my hand and seal this 25th day of August 1818.
